Hon. Robert (Bob) James Lee Hawke, AC (b.1929) Mr Hawke, a former Rhodes Scholar, was born and educated in Western Australia. He has been active within the trade union movement since 1958 and in 1970 was made President of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU), a position he retained until 1980. Mr Hawke is also an active sportsman and his interests include golf.
